Taking the weight seriously
Depression may affect your energy, motivation, sleep, concentration, relationships, and the way you see yourself. People often criticize themselves for not doing more, even when getting through the day already takes considerable effort.
Counseling gives us room to understand what has been happening, including stress, loss, isolation, and the patterns that may be keeping you stuck. You do not have to arrive with a clear explanation.
Finding workable steps
My approach often includes looking at the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behavior. We can notice harsh or hopeless thoughts and identify small actions that reconnect you with what matters. Those steps should fit the life you actually have, not an idealized version of it.
Sometimes the work is gradual. We can be honest about what is difficult while also looking for movement, support, and a way forward.
I offer counseling at the Richardson office and by telehealth, subject to current availability.
Getting started
