Start with an honest look
Maybe use has become a way to wind down, avoid difficult feelings, sleep, or get through a social situation. Maybe you have tried to cut back and found it harder than expected. You might not know what label fits, and you do not need one before starting a conversation.
We can look at when the urge shows up, what you hope the substance will do, what happens afterward, and how the pattern affects your health, relationships, work, or values. The aim is to understand the cycle clearly enough to make choices with more freedom.
Finding the right level of help
Individual counseling may help with patterns of use, triggers, coping skills, and the concerns underneath them. Some situations call for medical evaluation, withdrawal support, or a more intensive level of care. We can discuss fit and referrals rather than assuming that one approach is right for everyone.
If you may be physically dependent on alcohol or another substance, consult a medical professional before stopping suddenly. This page is general information and is not a substitute for urgent care.
I offer appointments in Richardson and telehealth where appropriate, subject to availability. You can keep your first inquiry brief and avoid sending sensitive details through the contact form.
